About AGN Highlands

AGN Highlands (AGN) is a newly established firm situated in Inverness, Scotland. Although AGN was officially formed in April 2023, its founder, Arthur Nisbet, has been offering contract project accounting services since 2006. Mr. Nisbet’s accounting career began in 1986 when he worked for Price Waterhouse Chartered Accountants (Canada). His first assignment was to conduct an inventory count at a coffee wholesaler where he spent three days counting coffee beans, making him a real bean counter.

After leaving Price Waterhouse, Mr. Nisbet gained experience in various industries, such as agriculture (blueberry, cranberry, mushroom, and tree farming), food processing, retailing, and transportation. In 2006 he started providing contract project accounting services while working on a dam, penstock, and electrical generating station project just below the Arctic Circle in Canada’s far north.

In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Mr. Nisbet working as a sole practitioner decided to return home to his roots in the Scottish Highlands taking on a contract in the Inverness area. This was initially intended to be a fixed term contract, but quickly led to Mr. Nisbet becoming the company’s contracted part-time financial controller. Between 2020 and 2023, Mr. Nisbet took on temporary and part-time financial controller roles. In 2023, the decision was made to expand the services and bring on associates, leading to the creation of AGN Highlands.
